When Will The Recession End?
Today, some tentative good news. According to Blue Chip Economic Indicators, if the government does indeed pass the massive bailout package, the economy could start recovering as early as July 2009. Over fifty economists from respected banks, brokerage firms, and insurance companies contributed to this forecast.
Of course, the country is still facing a severe credit crunch, and potential 8-9% unemployment rates do not inspire confidence. Even if economists are correct about the recovery timetable, not very many of them are willing to predict that the worst is over. Still, if you squint hard enough, maybe you can see slivers of blue amidst the heavy clouds?
